HRM the Journal

Hi All,

Thanks to Rosina, I`m now a part of this wonderful forum. I look forward to being an active member and hope can learn & as well as contribute here...

I am currently trying to learn more on Diversity Recruitment. Considering the benefits of a diverse workforce in a rapidly changing global marketplace, it is no surprise that more and more organizations are trying to attract a more diverse workforce. I am keen on learning what kind of tools, methods, processes, etc. are being used by various organizations to select/recruit a more diverse workforce. It could be related to any kind of diversity- age, gender, nationality, etc. Also some articles & literature on this topic would be greatly appreciated..

Look forward to hearing from you all...
Cheers, Mugdha

Hi Mugdha, This is a great topic. Check out the special issue of HRM on breaking barriers. There were quite a few articles on the topic. In fact, we had so many that we needed a part 2 of the issue that's coming out next issue.

I'm not an expert in the field, but I've been doing some work with affinity groups. They seem to be a popular but under-used resource to help drive recruitment, leadership development, and more. Have you worked with these groups in any of your roles or jobs?

Hi Theresa,
First of all thanks for such a prompt reply & your help..However is there place where I would get the soft copy of the special issue of HRM that you are referring to? I tried searching on this site but didn`t manage to get hold of it...Also do let me know if I can help in any way in the second issue of HRM on Breaking Barriers.

And yes, while in my professional life, I have managed/worked with a very diverse workforce, I have not been specifically involved in diversity recruitment nor I guess had the organizations focused on it. My recent readings on diversity & its benefits set me thinking on this topic. I find that this area is in its nascent stage but is really catching up..& thus my eagerness to learn more..

Hope to hear more you more..

Rgds,
Mugdha

I have the RSS feed the journal (special issue) on the front page on the site - you can get the abstracts there, and then hopefully your library will have copies.

Hi Mugdha,

My research and executive education workshops focus on diversity as a human resource management strategy. Also, I was the guest editor for the special issue on breaking barriers in organizations. Successful diversity recruitment depends on many factors, such as national context, industry, profession and organizational goals. Could you share more about your goals for diversity recruitment?

Dear Theresa,
Loads of thanks to you for providing me some immensely valuable help in this area that I wanted to learn more about. The journal was indeed very helpful. You`ll also be happy to know that I recently have been able to publish a book chapter on it...(The book is edited by a very reputed researcher in India, Dr. M.K. Mandal, and was launched by one of the former presidents of the country!) I`ll be looking forward to some more help from you on future research areas..

Lynn- My apologies for having missed your reply earlier..Thanks so much for writing in...I am still keen on learning more in this area..My interest is to understand how organizations can successfully recruit "the right person for the right job" from a pool of such diverse candidates in today`s global village...
