I recently wrote a paper titled "Organizational Terrorism and Moral Choices: Exercising Voice when the Leader is the Problem." The paper addressed much of the "bullying" literature. If you would like, I could pass along a copy of the paper to you.
I identified seven parallels between political terrorism and organizational terrorism. I then explained why Voice is the most loyal response and moral response of organization members in response to toxic leadership.
Hi Cam,
Yes, I would like a copy of your paper... thanks.
Are you going to the IHRM conference in Santa Fe in June? I'm trying to organise a symposium on bullying at this conference...
Another colleague from Australia is giving a paper on abusive leadership...he'll be also involved in the symposium.
We're having a heatwave in Melbourne - hottest weather for 100 years.. 3 days in a row over 43c.. and more to come... hard to concentrate on any research !
best,
Glennis
Have you put in a paper yet. Phil Benson, the Chair has indicated to me that he will be granting extensions. Suggest you look at the IHRM2009 Santa Fe web site for information on the conference and submit a paper if you havent done so.
We hope to hold a symposium at the conference which is 21-24 June 09
Glennis
Thanks Cam - that'd be good to collaborate. I'm in preliminary stages with another US academic on risk & bullying.. and another group on abusive supervisors..
Pity you cant make it to Santa Fe -21-24 June. The organisers have extended the call for papers until mid March. promises to be a good conference... and if I can get a bullying symposium organised I'll be happy....
Let's talk about collaboration.
Carlo, I just realised - we met in Montreal at the bullying conference last June. and you caught up with colleagues of mine at ANZAM. We were at the same table for dinner with another Australian - Moira.
The papers for the IHRM conference in Santa Fe have been extended until mid March. Are you interested in attending and being part of a symposium on bullying. Think you did something at ANZAM 2008 like this.
